Waldemar Baszanowski of Poland will serve a second term as president of the European Weightlifting Federation, following the results of the elections held during the EWF Congress in Loutraki, on occasion of the 2003 European Championships, which are held in this spa resort, 80 kilometres west of Athens. Mr. Baszanowski was the sole candidate for the presidency. Yannis Sgouros, president of the Hellenic Weightlifting Federation, was also re-elected as 1st Vice-President of the EWF.

The EWF Congress also approved the venues of the 2004 continental championships, as follows:

• Kiev (UKR) will host the Senior European Championships in April.
• Burgas (BUL) will host the Junior European Championships in September.
• Stavanger (NOR) will host the Under-17 European Championships in July.

Gottfried Schöedl of Austria, the honorary President of the International Weightlifting Federation, was elected the Electoral Assembly Chairman, with Mr. Nurikian (BUL), Mr. Mamtsadelis (GRE) and Mr. Vitek (CZE) acting as scrutiners. The results of the elections:
