WALDEMAR BASZANOWSKI RE-ELECTED EWF PRESIDENT
Poland’s Waldemar Baszanowski has been elected to serve a second term as
president of the European Weightlifting Federation. The European
Federation’s Electoral Congress was held in the spa resort of Loutraki,
80 kilometres west of Athens, on the eve of the 2003 European
Championships which begin on Tuesday 15 April. Mr. Baszanowski was the
sole candidate for the presidency. Yannis Sgouros, president of the
Hellenic Weightlifting Federation was re-elected as 1st vice-president
of the EWF. The Congress also confirmed the
following venues as hosts of future competitions: Kiev (Ukraine) will
host the 2004 senior European Championships, next April; Burgas
(Bulgaria) will host the 2004 junior European Championships in September
of that year; and Stavanger (Norway) will host the 2004 under-17
European Championships in July of that year. |
