Halil Mutlu (TUR):
“Because of a recent shoulder injury I had to move temporarily to the 62
kg. category. But if I see that the level of opposition remains as is
currently, I will continue in this category until the 2004 Olympics. I
pursued to create a relationship with the Greek crowd, considering that
the next Olympics will be held here and I will appreciate their support.
Of course, if I will compete against Sabanis, I hope that I’ll get at
least 50% of the crowd on my side.”
Stefan
Georgiev (BUL): “When I initially heard that Mutlu would compete in
this category I didn’t think much of it, especially considering that
there are many other strong athletes, such as Sabanis who did not compete
today. The fact is that Mutlu is in a class by himself, and when I’m not
in a good day, like today, I can’t think how I can beat him. As long as
Mutlu remains in this category my goal will be to get on the podium, and
if all goes well, then shoot for the gold.”
